SOC 2 Type I vs. SOC 2 Type II
While both SOC 2 Type I and Type II focus on how companies manage customer data, they differ in scope and rigor:
- SOC 2 Type I: Evaluates whether security controls are designed effectively at a single point in time. It’s essentially a snapshot of policies and procedures.
- SOC 2 Type II: Goes further, testing whether those controls operate effectively over a defined period (usually 6–12 months). This demonstrates not just design, but consistency and reliability in real-world practice.
By earning Type II certification, we have proven that our controls don’t just exist on paper—they work continuously to protect your data.
